Experimental: Olympics Dreamsicle

I’ve been watching the Winter Olympics nonstop for the last few days and wanted to feature a drink inspired by the host city and the Olympic spirit. The Olympics Dreamsicle is a variation of this recipe and is made with soju, a clear distilled alcohol that is typically enjoyed as a shot. The sweetness of the soju, orange juice, and honey syrup is balanced by a tart passion fruit juice. This is the perfect drink to enjoy while cheering on your favorite athletes!

Olympic Dreamsicle Ingredients: 1 ounces Soju, 0.5 ounces coconut milk, 0.5 ounces honey syrup, 0.25 ounces passion fruit juice, 0.5 ounces orange juice

Sidecar Recipe (1 serving)

  • 2 oz. soju (unflavored)
  • 0.5 oz. honey syrup
  • 0.5 oz. fresh orange juice
  • 0.5 oz. coconut milk (unsweetened)
  • 0.25 oz. passion fruit syrup (blend equal parts passion fruit pulp with water)

Equipment

Directions

  1. Prepare the passion fruit juice and pour 0.25 ounces of juice into the shaker
  2. Squeeze 0.5 ounces of orange juice and add to the shaker
  3. Add the honey syrup, coconut milk, and soju into the shaker
  4. Add 3-4 handfuls of ice into the container and seal the shaker
  5. Shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds and the shaker is completely frosted
  6. Take the glass out of the freezer and add a large ice
  7. Place a Hawthorne strainer on top of the shaker and double-strain the drink through a fine mesh strainer placed over the glass
  8. To garnish, cut a wedge of orange and place inside the glass

Geonbae!
